This leads to irreversible damage in physical and intellectual development, reduced disease resistance, and diminished learning and later work capacity.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This situation arises because Guatemalan diets are predominantly based on corn, with minimal protein intake from either animal or plant sources. Legumes, a protein source, are rarely consumed as they cost three times more than corn, and when families have a small quantity, they often sell them to cover urgent needs.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To address this severe issue, ANPIL Onlus has operated in the Chimaltenango district since 2012 through<\/span> <b>the &#8220;AC&#8217;UALA&#8221; Program<\/b>, <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">aiming to supplement children&#8217;s diets to promote growth and motor\/cognitive<br \/>development.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The Project<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The overall objective of the project is to guarantee<\/span> <b>the right to education<\/b> <b>and health<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for minors belonging to the most vulnerable families.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Specifically, ANPIL Onlus has been operating in Guatemala since 2012 to:<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25cf Ensure education and access to healthcare services for children in the<br \/>\nChimaltenango region<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25cf Contribute to improved food security, which means providing sufficient and nutritious<br \/>food and reducing the malnutrition rate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Direct Beneficiaries:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 250 enfants en difficult\u00e9 vivant dans les 11 communaut\u00e9s impliqu\u00e9es dans le projet<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 25 mineurs atteints de handicaps physiques et mentaux.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Indirect Beneficiaries:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">250 families in distress, involved in home training sessions on health, hygiene, proper nutrition, and family-managed agriculture and livestock microprojects.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1,200 children from primary schools in 11 municipalities\/communities: Tecp\u00e0n, Paley, Chimixaya, San Jos\u00e9 el Rodeo, Camelias, El Sitio, Patzai, Chuaparal, Santa Apolonia, Palama, and La Trompeta.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children involved in the project are guaranteed the opportunity to attend school by covering school expenses, providing educational materials, books, uniforms, and shoes. Additionally, we ensure periodic medical check-ups and a nutritional recovery program. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Impact on the Community:<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The entire <\/span><b>local community is engaged with training programs <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on proper nutrition.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ANPIL onlus also promotes agricultural production in families receiving food assistance, providing agricultural aid, technical assistance, and training sessions aimed at sharing good agricultural practices in protein food production and poultry farming.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, families in need <\/span><b>receive food supplies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (rice, beans, chickens).
