The percentage of chronic child malnutrition reaches up to 80% in some of the most deprived areas, such as the rural regions of the Chimaltenango department.<br \/>\nSince 2012, we have been operating in the municipality of Tecp\u00e1n through the &#8220;AC&#8217;UALA&#8221; Program, which includes the implementation of Food Integration Projects and micro-projects for economic independence. <\/p>\n<h2>The Project<\/h2>\n<p>This project will enable 10 women, mothers of children affected by chronic malnutrition, to <strong>develop new skills and learn a useful trade<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe embroidery and handmade items they produce will be sold at local markets, increasing the family\u2019s overall income.<\/p>\n<p>Each participant will receive:<br \/>\n\u25cf a loom,<br \/>\n\u25cf threads suitable for weaving and embroidery,<br \/>\n\u25cf home-based training on weaving techniques,<br \/>\n\u25cf support for product marketing.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the outcomes achieved, we will consider developing a model to <strong>facilitate local commercialization of these textile products<\/strong>.
