Thanks to the funding received from the Waldensian Evangelical Church (Union of Methodist and Waldensian Churches), work will be carried out at the Tendron mission to create a new sanitary system.
The Context
Currently, the primary school in Tendron does not have a sanitary system adequate for the needs of the children and the protection of their health.
Within the entire mission, there is not even a point for the distribution of drinking water for the 239 children.
The only existing structure, located within the courtyard, is completely dilapidated and degraded.
There is no running water system to facilitate drainage and cleaning of the premises.
The walls are full of cracks and leaks, and the wooden doors provide no security or privacy. Consequently, many girls begin to skip school days when they enter puberty: in Haiti, 49% of girls miss one to three days of school each month due to menstruation.
ANPIL non-profit organization aims not only to provide assistance but also to raise awareness about the importance of having better sanitary conditions at home as well as in schools
The Project
The project aims to establish a new sanitary system for the benefit of 239 children at the primary school in Tendron (Tortuga Island).
The current structure is completely dilapidated and insufficient for the children’s needs.
The new facility will provide a clean, hygienically safe environment, access to drinking water, and a standard sewage drainage system.
This new structure will facilitate an educational and training pathway, demonstrating that improving the sanitary conditions of their living environment leads to an enhanced quality of life for the children themselves and the entire community.
This project holds immense value in restoring dignity to many children who are currently deprived of it.
